Commercial Street Cafe is tucked in quiet section of commercial after it joins with Victoria where a cozy nook of bistros, cafes, and shops have found home. This was a very interesting one. This hole-in-the-wall on Clark has caught my eye over the last year located within Central Coffee Roasting, ander it's bright signage. I found this Timbertrain location quite by accident. I have been through this neighbourhood sporadically when visiting the York theatre or Earnest Ice Cream, however recently saw their signage when passing by. Euro style steamed milk. The lattes here are pricy but have decent flavour to back it up. I would put Artigianos in a more "designer" cafe feel focusing on offering fancy drinks and baked goods while keeping up the quality of coffee. Not as good as JJ Bean or the nearby FDL, but has more seating and food available for people who want to sit and chat, or get work done.

Hidden instance of Prado tucked within the Still Creek business park. Offers a small selection of baked goods and all the beverages you would expect, large seating, and reduced business hours of 7am-4pm weekdays. Great coffee shop with a cozy train station aesthetic. Good amount of seating indoors plus some more room outside. Staff friendly and fast, importantly a great selection of quality and comforting baked goods. Slightly loud inside. Lattes are great and slightly on the light side. Very smooth steamed milk, almost too much so but blends nicely. Flavour is not too weak and importantly has no astringency. Probably one of my favourite tastes, however I prefer slightly more bitterness.

Another great JJ Bean location in the Burnaby Heights neighbourhood. This location has a fair bit of sesting but only one outlet for working. They receive their doughnuts fairly early. Not as cozy as some of the older locations, this one has a white interior. Great coffee with great consistency with a strong but never agressive flavour, well textured milk, and a good temperature. Pretty location and decent seating but with small tables. Relatively quick service and some character. however, the $6.60 /12oz is a fairly high price point for the coffee. The coffee itself is not bad, starts of strong with nice flavour and texture. however it doesn't maintain this through the drink. By no means sub-par but different than its competition at this price-point.

Small hole-in-the-wall cafe located on the edge of Gastown and Chinatown in downtown Vancouver. The coffee shop hosts a chocolatier producing fine chocolates also for sale. Saunter is a quaint and cozy hole in the wall near Gastown with a small selection of bakes and drinks (sort of like Modus, and they use their beans!). They offer a reasonsble seating arangement, good to meet friends but not reliably sit down and work. Bakes are pricy. Lattees are wonderfully smooth. Excelent sreamed milk texture with warm, earthy flavour. This smoothness is helped by it being a lighter roast or extraction which I am less of a fan of as the rest of the drink was a bit weak. Nice cozy space with a small selection of baked goods. Lots of roasts to buy as well as specialty coffee and pour over. Medium seating, was very busy when I came. Coffee has a nice flavour to the milk and body, slightly more acidic then I usually prefer but not astringent. The texture of the steamed milk is one of the best, thought I find some of the flavour is eclipsed by the acidity. Worth more visits.

Modus is a small, minimal coffee roaster just off of Hastings near the bottom of Burnaby Mountain in a quiet neighbourhood. They roast their own beans and offer a wide range of speciality coffees. Selection of coffees rotates, and they offer a pour over bar. Baked goods re limited in number but very well made. The ambiance is exelent--while the seating is small and less cozy than I typically enjoy, Modus creates a relaxing and vibrant environment through an open layout and lofi on high quality...

Good seating with a cosey atmosphere. Good lighting from large windows and easy parking access. A little loud inside for conversation. Good foam texture with an average taste.
